Akure-born home-based grassroots football coach and former Nigeria Professional Football League tactician, Banjo Adepoju, has guided Team Ondo to the final of the Niger Delta Games men’s football event, reaffirming his pedigree in talent development and competitive coaching.
Adepoju, who built his coaching career from the grassroots level before rising to handle teams in the elite league, has been instrumental in Ondo State’s impressive run in the tournament. His side booked their place in the final after a convincing 3–0 victory over Bayelsa State in the semi-final.
The Akure-born tactician has been widely praised for blending young talents with tactical discipline, a hallmark of his grassroots football philosophy.
His experience as a former NPFL coach was evident as Ondo dominated their opponents with confidence and technical superiority.
Speaking after the victory, Adepoju expressed confidence in his team’s ability to win the trophy, noting that the players remain focused and determined to make Ondo State proud.
“This team has shown character, discipline and hunger throughout the competition. We are going into the final with confidence and the aim of bringing the trophy home,” he said.
Ondo State will now face hosts Edo State in what promises to be an exciting final, as Adepoju hopes to crown his team’s outstanding performance with the championship title.
