Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have foiled coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents, killing 29 terrorists during separate encounters in Borno State and Yobe State.
According to a report by The Punch, the insurgents launched attacks on military formations, but were repelled by troops who responded with superior firepower.
It was gathered that 15 terrorists were neutralised during an attempted attack on troops at Lamusheri village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, while 14 others were killed in separate engagements at the Forward Operating Base, Limankara, and Kukawa axis of Borno State.
The newspaper reported that the troops engaged the insurgents in fierce gun battles, forcing them to retreat after suffering heavy casualties.
Sources disclosed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the fleeing terrorists, while troops sustained minimal casualties during the operations.
The successful operations were said to be part of ongoing offensives by Operation Hadin Kai to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore peace in the North-East region.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the offensive against insurgents and ensuring lasting security in the affected communities.
