Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Tuesday led leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State to a crucial stakeholders’ meeting ahead of the party’s ward congress scheduled to hold across the state.
The ward congress is expected to take place on Wednesday in all the 203 wards spread across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The stakeholders’ meeting, held at the APC State Secretariat in Akure, was attended by members of the ward congress committees deployed from the party’s national secretariat to oversee the exercise.
Addressing the gathering, the Ward Congress Committee Chairman, Chief Margaret Aruruenu, alongside the Secretary, Barrister Smart Iheazor, briefed party leaders on the level of preparedness and assured them of their commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible exercise.
They emphasized that the committees would strictly adhere to the guidelines and constitution of the party in carrying out their responsibilities.
Also present at the meeting were members of other committees from the national secretariat, including the Screening Committee, Screening Appeals Committee and Congress Appeals Committee.
Party leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state, including Barrister Tolu Babaleye (North), Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (Central) and Hon. Ola Oguntimehin (South), commended the peaceful conduct of the screening exercise and expressed confidence that party members would maintain peace during the congress.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, lauded the efforts of the committees and assured that necessary measures had been put in place to ensure a peaceful and successful congress across the state.
The ward congress is a key step in strengthening the party’s internal structure ahead of future political activities in Ondo State.
