Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected armed terrorists and recovered arms and other items during a tactical operation in Ondo State.
The operation was carried out on February 14, 2026, by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Auga, following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected criminals along the Akunu–Auga road.
According to the Army, troops swiftly mobilised and engaged the suspects in a gun battle.
“The ensuing contact with the armed elements led to a firefight, where the troops’ superior firepower resulted in the neutralisation of two of the terrorists, while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds,” the statement said.
The operation was conducted jointly with personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, and local vigilantes.
Items recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, torchlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms and the sum of ₦39,000.
The Army said the operation underscores its determination to tackle criminal activities in the state, noting that “the success of the operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action and movement, as well as to protect lives and property.”
The military added that troops would sustain aggressive operations and patrols to ensure security across the state.
The disclosure was contained in a statement signed by Major Irabor Njoka, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, and made available to journalists on February 15, 2026.
