The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ondo State, Mr. Wole Ademoyegun, has dismissed reports circulating online about the inauguration of the Okitipupa Local Government Executive Committee, describing them as misleading and untrue.
In a rejoinder issued on Sunday, Ademoyegun clarified that no valid inauguration of the party’s local government executive took place in Okitipupa, stressing that there is currently no legitimate ADC Local Government Executive Committee in the area.
According to him, he personally travelled to Okitipupa to facilitate peace and harmonisation between two contending factions within the party, but his efforts were frustrated by the refusal of one faction’s leader to accept the proposed harmonisation arrangement.
He explained that he was uncomfortable with the decision to proceed with any inauguration without first achieving peaceful reconciliation, noting that despite his objections, the State Working Committee insisted on moving forward.
Ademoyegun added that his attempt to further engage one of the factional leaders proved abortive as the individual was unavailable at the time.
The ADC chairman stated that at a stakeholders’ meeting held at a venue provided by one of the factions, he clearly informed party members that the inauguration had been suspended to allow for continued harmonisation efforts.
He categorically denied attending or participating in any inauguration ceremony at Bay Royal Hotel or administering any oath of office.
Ademoyegun further described photographs circulating online in connection with the purported inauguration as fabricated, alleging that they were products of ICT manipulation.
He urged party members and the general public to disregard the false reports, insisting that his position could not be compromised by financial inducement.
He reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful harmonisation, party unity and internal democracy, while condemning what he described as desperate actions capable of undermining the cohesion of the party.
The ADC chairman called on all stakeholders to remain calm and work collectively towards building a united and stronger party in Ondo State.
