The Federal Government has allocated N15 billion for the dualization of the 150.7-kilometer Benin-Akure-Ilesha road as part of its 2025 infrastructure development agenda.
The project, divided into two phases, includes the rehabilitation of the existing road and the addition of a new lane to enhance connectivity between Edo, Ondo, and Osun states.
This allocation is one of several major investments outlined in the N49.74 trillion 2025 Federal Budget Proposal under the Ministry of Works.
Other notable projects include N15 billion for the rehabilitation of the Bauchi-Jigawa state border road and N11 billion for the reconstruction of the Shagamu-Ore road, a vital 96-kilometer route linking Ogun and Ondo states.
The budget also includes N10.45 billion for the dualization of the Akure-Ilesha road and N9 billion for the construction of the Ukana-Ikot-Ntuen road in Akwa Ibom state.
Additionally, N8 billion has been allocated for the rehabilitation of the Lagos-Abeokuta road, and N8 billion will be used for the construction of the Abak-Ekparakwa-Ete-Ikot-Abasi highway in Akwa Ibom state.
Other key projects include N7 billion for the construction of the Ugep road in Cross River state, N6 billion for the Oferekpe bridge connecting Cross River and Ebonyi states, and N6 billion for the dualization of the Ado-Ekiti-Afe Babalola University road.
Smaller allocations include N5 billion for the Illara-Isolu road construction and N4 billion for a flyover at Eke-Obinagu junction in Enugu state.
The Abakaliki-Afikpo road dualization received N3 billion, while N8 billion has been allocated for the Benin-Agbo road.
These investments underscore the government’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s road infrastructure, enhancing regional connectivity, and fostering economic development.
