The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has celebrated the achievements and enduring legacy of former governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, describing him as a leader whose tenure transformed Ondo State and earned the admiration of its people.
Governor Aiyedatiwa spoke during a Special Divine Agenda Praise Evening on Monday at the Dome in Akure, organized to mark Dr. Mimiko’s 70th birthday. The governor praised the celebrant as a trailblazer whose impactful policies and projects have left an indelible mark.
“Dr. Mimiko is a leader who transformed Ondo State through impactful projects and policies that touched the lives of our people in profound ways. His dedication to human-centered governance earned him the love and respect of the citizens.
“This celebration is a testament to the legacy he has built and the affection people have for him. It is indeed a rare blessing to witness such honour while still alive,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said.
Highlighting Mimiko’s contributions to infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social programs, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that his achievements remain a beacon of inspiration for the current administration and future generations.
In his response, Dr. Mimiko expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo State and the event organizers for the heartfelt celebration.
“It is deeply humbling to be celebrated in this way. I am grateful to God, my family, and the good people of Ondo State for believing in my vision and supporting me throughout my tenure. This recognition motivates me to continue contributing to the development of our state in any way I can,” Dr. Mimiko said.
Dr. Mimiko also paid tribute to his wife, Oluwakemi, for her steadfast support, while Mrs. Mimiko described her husband as a visionary whose legacy continues to impact lives.
The evening featured music, prayers, and heartfelt tributes, culminating in the cutting of a celebratory cake and the presentation of gifts by friends, family, and dignitaries.
