Akure – Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has praised the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), for its remarkable contributions to technological advancements and innovation in Nigeria.
The Governor gave this commendation on Saturday during the university’s 34th and 35th convocation ceremonies.
In a goodwill message to the graduands, the Governor applauded their perseverance and dedication, which culminated in their academic success. He lauded the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike T. Oladiji, and the management team for their transformative leadership.
“You have transformed FUTA into a world-class institution with groundbreaking achievements,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said. “The caliber of graduates this university consistently produces is a testament to your resilience and commitment to excellence.”
The Governor also encouraged the graduands to be ambassadors of FUTA by upholding virtues of integrity, hard work, and resilience.
Recognizing the competitiveness of the global landscape, he urged them to leverage their skills for societal development.
Highlighting FUTA’s pivotal role in Ondo State’s development, Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged continuous support for the university.
He assured the academic community of an enabling environment for innovation, enterprise, and knowledge, aligning with the federal government’s RENEWED HOPE Agenda.
“We share a collective vision and mission towards nation-building in support of the RENEWED HOPE Agenda of the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he added.
The Governor outlined his administration’s developmental framework, “OUR EASE,” emphasizing security, urban and rural development, industrialization, healthcare, education, and sustainable agriculture.
He called for collective efforts to build a prosperous Ondo State.
During the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Oladiji reiterated FUTA’s commitment to fostering excellence in education, research, and innovation.
She described the graduands as the pride of the institution, commending their resilience and determination.
The convocation witnessed the conferment of postgraduate and undergraduate degrees to a total of 7,780 students, including 519 first-class graduates.
Professor Oladiji extended gratitude to the Ondo State Government for its unwavering support for education and reaffirmed FUTA’s mission to advance innovation in science, technology, and engineering.
