Governor Aiyedatiwa cast his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State at 8:50 a.m. on election day, expressing confidence in the smooth conduct of the process.
Speaking to journalists after casting his ballot, the governor praised the organisation at the polling station and highlighted the efficiency of the electoral process.
“It’s encouraging to see the exercise going smoothly here. I am hopeful that this is reflective of the experience across the state,” he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged electoral officials and security personnel to ensure that all eligible voters have equal access to the polls without hindrance.
“I want to call on all officials and security personnel to ensure that every supporter and citizen is allowed to cast their vote freely and without obstruction,” he added.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely arrival of officials and the transparent setup at his polling unit, though he refrained from commenting on the situation in other locations.
The governor also lauded security agencies for maintaining peace during the election, stating, “We have consistently conducted peaceful elections over the years, and I am confident this one will be no different.”
Ondo State, he noted, remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, with a long-standing reputation for orderly elections. Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed hope that this tradition would continue throughout the day.
