The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has announced the appointment of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III, the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, as the new Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED).
This move, effective immediately, is seen as a major step towards bolstering the institution’s growth and reinforcing its position as Nigeria’s premier medical university.
In a letter dated November 7, 2024, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, the governor conveyed his confidence in Oba Kiladejo’s leadership.
The monarch, who is also a trained medical practitioner, is celebrated for his commitment to healthcare and educational advancement, qualities the governor highlighted as essential for his new role.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his optimism about the monarch’s impact, stating,
“Oba Kiladejo’s leadership and vision will undoubtedly propel UNIMED to new heights. His dedication to medical education and excellence makes him an ideal fit to inspire and motivate the university community.”
Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the quality of medical education in Ondo State and strengthening the institution through strategic leadership choices.
The new Chancellor, Oba Kiladejo, is expected to bring valuable insights to the university and foster a stronger link between traditional authority and educational excellence in Ondo.
