•••Partners with State on Aiyetoro Restoration
The Federal Government on Thursday unveiled the specifications for the 63-kilometer stretch of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project in Ondo State, marking significant progress in the inter-regional infrastructure initiative.
During a town hall meeting with local stakeholders at the Government House in Akure, Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, shared insights into the project’s impact on Ondo State.
Emphasizing the Federal Government’s focus on infrastructure as a key driver for development, Umahi affirmed that work on the Ondo axis of the coastal highway would soon begin.
“We are committed to developing infrastructure that goes beyond politics, as it directly impacts the welfare of our people,” said Umahi, underscoring that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for enhancing the well-being of Nigerians across all regions.
The project, which connects the western and southeastern regions of Nigeria, is expected to bolster socio-economic opportunities, improve inter-state connectivity, and facilitate trade across the nation.
Senator Umahi commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his proactive approach, noting the Governor’s commitment to seeing the project succeed within Ondo State.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting its potential to drive economic growth and development across Ondo’s coastal communities.
“This will not be one of those projects that get abandoned,” Aiyedatiwa assured stakeholders. “This road will bring tremendous benefits to the people of Ondo State, and we are fully committed to partnering with the Federal Government to make it a reality.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa also revealed a collaborative effort with the Federal Government for restoration and protection projects in Aiyetoro, located in Ilaje Local Government Area.
This partnership is expected to address long-standing environmental and infrastructural challenges in the coastal community.
Community representatives and officials in attendance, including Senator Niyi Adegbonmire, SAN, Hon. Akin Alabi, and Banji Okunomo, expressed their support and optimism for the project, emphasizing its significance for the coastal communities in Ondo State.
Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, concluded by reinforcing the government’s commitment to effective oversight and timely execution of the project to ensure sustainable progress.
