In response to the frequent accidents along the Akungba Akoko road in Akoko South West, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced plans to dualise the road and build an overhead bridge for pedestrians.
Speaking during an engagement with market women and youths of Akungba Akoko on Monday, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that the project would help address safety concerns.
The interaction occurred while he was returning from a senatorial campaign rally in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North East.
The Governor emphasized that his administration had evaluated several solutions before deciding on the dualisation and overhead bridge.
He confirmed that the road upgrade would commence from Ikare Akoko and extend past the main gate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
He stated, “The love and support you have shown me and our great party stem from the progress you have witnessed. You see the difference, and you want that progress to continue.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa further highlighted his administration’s efforts across various sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure.
He assured the people that salaries for workers are paid promptly and that more teachers are being recruited to strengthen the educational system.
“We are building roads, securing our communities, and making sure our farmers can thrive. This is the work we must continue,” he added.
He urged the people to convert their support into votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming November 16 governorship election.
Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, also Aiyedatiwa’s running mate, echoed the Governor’s call for continuity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the progress made under the current administration.
“Our state has witnessed remarkable development under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership. But we must not stop here; we need to push forward for even greater accomplishments.
The coming election is not just about electing a governor; it’s about safeguarding our future and the progress we have made,” said Dr. Adelami.
Additionally, APC State Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin and Hon. Abiola Makinde, the House of Representatives member for Ondo East/West federal constituency, commended the people for their support.
They described Governor Aiyedatiwa as a leader committed to infrastructural development and the well-being of the people.
Earlier, Governor Aiyedatiwa inaugurated two projects under the Ondo State CARES initiative: a new science laboratory at Community Comprehensive High School, Akungba, and a basic health center built with community support at Okusa, Akungba.
The APC’s campaign in the senatorial district will conclude on Wednesday at the Government Field in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
