Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has sworn in six newly appointed judges of the State High Court, further reinforcing the judiciary in the state.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the Governor’s Office, Akure.
The new judges, Hon. Justices Adebisi Williams Daomi, Adeola Olufunke Adegoroye, Justinah Ojufisintei Kpemi, Happiness Inumidun Demehin-Ogunbayo, Wumi Fabuluje, and Idowu Mobayonle Ogunwumiju, were described by the governor as distinguished legal professionals who will contribute to the state’s legal system.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the significance of the appointments in reducing the courts’ workload and improving the administration of justice.
“This is particularly fulfilling for me, as it marks the second instance on record in our administration that appointment to the Bench of the State Judiciary would be carried out and in large number.
These appointees have distinguished themselves in the practice of law and administration of justice in our dear state,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
The governor also praised the efforts of the National Judicial Council, the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice Segun Aiyedun Odusola, and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, for facilitating the appointments.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, highlighted the governor’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the judiciary is well-equipped to dispense justice.
He noted that these appointments were a testament to the state’s judicial growth.
On behalf of the newly appointed judges, Justice Adebisi Williams Daomi expressed their commitment to upholding judicial standards, stating,
“We will complement the efforts of our colleagues and carry out our responsibilities with diligence and dedication.”
In closing, Governor Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s dedication to upholding the independence of the judiciary and urged the new judges to perform their duties with “diligence, sobriety, courage, and the fear of God.”
