Nigerian music Legend, Onyeka Owenu has reportedly passed on minutes after performing at a friend’s birthday in Lagos.
Sources close to the family disclosed the Music maestro slumped after performing at Mrs Stella Okoli of Emzor Pharmaceutical’s birthday and was rushed by the emergency rescue team to Reddington hospital Victoria Island, Lagos where she was announced dead.
The cause of her death is currently unknown and awaits investigation.
In her time, Onwenu shined through her career as a multi-talented music artist, social activist, journalist and politician.
Born January 1952, she served as the former chairperson of Imo state Council for Arts and Culture, was appointed in 2013 as the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Women Development.
