Sunshine Stars Head Coach Kayode Julius has appealed to the fans of the club not to relent in their support for the team in the run in to the end of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Julius’ appeal comes in the wake of their disappointing 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United in their last home game at the Ondo State Sports Complex.
A defensive blunder in the 38th minute of the game allowed the visitors take a surprise lead, just as Sunshine Stars wasted lots of chances before returning hit man, Tunde Adeniji spared their blushes with the equaliser in the 65th minute.
Speaking on behalf of the technical adviser, Kennedy Boboye at the end of the game, Julius rued the missed chances and promised to get the team back to winning ways.
“We told the players not to underrate the team, we let them know that the team picked away point, that we should go all out to win the game, we made use of three strikers in the first half and we had lots of chances but we couldn’t utilize them. It’s painful we drew at home.”
“Bayelsa never had any clear chance against us, we gave them the cheap goal, we pray by the grace of God that we go and pick away points.
“I appeal to our fans to continue to believe in us, we are going to make them happy, we are going to make them happy by not losing any game again. We are going to motivate the players psychologically and mentally and we are assuring them that we are not going to relegate.”
Sunshine Stars are without a win in their last three matches and face another test against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.
They are currently 15th in the table with 35 points after 28 matches.
