In preparation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election in Ondo State, scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 20, 2024, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has been appointed to lead a seven-member committee to oversee the electoral process.
Additionally, former Bauchi Governor Mohammed Abubakar has been appointed to head the five-member Primary Election Appeal Committee, ensuring the transparency and integrity of the primary election.
The announcement was made by the APC National Working Committee, highlighting the party’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible primary elections in line with democratic principles.
The primary election in Ondo State is expected to be closely contested, with 16 aspirants vying for the APC’s gubernatorial ticket. Topping the list are; The Incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Olusola Oke SAN, Current Senator Representing Ondo South, Jimoh Ibrahim, Sitting House of Representative Member Representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Jimi Odimayo amongst others. The role of Governor Ododo’s committee and Governor Abubakar’s appeal committee will be pivotal in ensuring that the process remains fair, transparent, and inclusive.
