Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, widely known as Junior Pope, tragically lost his life while attempting to cross the River Niger during the shooting of a movie. The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, confirmed Junior Pope’s passing through an Instagram post in the early hours of Thursday.
Reports indicate that the 39-year-old actor, along with three of his colleagues, drowned in the River Niger in the Delta State area while returning from a movie location in a boat. Junior Pope, who would have celebrated his 40th birthday on May 7, 2024, met an untimely demise in the line of duty.
Initially, there was hope for his survival as Rollas had mentioned that Junior Pope was revived and undergoing treatment in a hospital. However, despite efforts by medical professionals, Junior Pope couldn’t be saved.
In a solemn update, Rollas shared on his Instagram page the heartbreaking news of Junior Pope’s passing, along with another colleague. He expressed deep sorrow over the turn of events and extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
