Solo driver Pelumi Nubi has accomplished an extraordinary feat by completing her journey from London to Lagos, Nigeria, in just 68 hours. Born in Lagos but raised in the United Kingdom, Pelumi embarked on her epic adventure on January 31st, 2024, with the goal of connecting her two homes and showcasing the world to others.
“I have a very big passion for travelling and I just want to show the world to people. I decided to go on solo driving from London to Lagos cos London is where I consider home and Lagos is also home for me.So I’m trying to connect my two homes together.”
In defiance of challenges such as dyslexia, Pelumi’s passion for travel propelled her forward, granting her the freedom to explore without boundaries. With an impressive travel record of visiting 80 countries across continents, Pelumi’s decision to undertake this solo driving expedition reflects her unwavering determination and passion for adventure.
“I suffer from dyslexia, with travelling I found the freedom to be able to go without permission. So far I’ve been to 80 countries across the continent.”
Traversing through 17 countries, Pelumi encountered and overcame numerous road hazards, including surviving an auto crash in Ivory Coast. Despite these challenges, her resilience remained unshaken as she pressed on towards her destination, driven by her desire to bridge the gap between her London upbringing and her Nigerian roots.
Pelumi’s arrival in Lagos was met with a warm reception from a multitude of supporters gathered at the University of Lagos.
