A leading aspirant in the upcoming by-election election to fill the vacant seat of the Akoko North East/ West at the house of representatives , Hon. Olugbemiga Araoyinbo has been arrested by the police at the venue of the delegates Congress in ikare akoko.
The minister of interior, Mr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo was alleged to have used his power to order the arrest during a protest by a group of aspirants against the adoption of an illegal delegates list the minister imposed on the committee saddled with the conduct of the Congress.
Hon. Araoyinbo had in company of aspirants insisted that the minister is not permitted by the guidelines of the All progressives Congress to singlehandedly compile and submit the list of delegates in a primaries where about seven candidates are contesting.
The audacity of the aspirants to resist the flagrant abuse of power by the minister, Mr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo , was the reason for the arrest of hon. Araoyinbo.
As at the time of this report, there is tension in akoko area as the followers of hon. Araoyinbo are said to be demanding the immediate release of their principal to avert political crisis in the two local government areas in the federal constituency.
