All Progressive Congress chieftain, Dr.Olumuyiwa Adu has reiterated his commitment towards the establishment of a football academy in Akure ,the State capital.
He said that he had already sent some people out to look for a very good land that will host the academy, saying some delegations have also visited Remo Stars in ,Ikene to study the architectural design of what the project would be.
Dr, Olumuyiwa Adu had few weeks ago said he would establish a football academy in the state.
In a recent Interview with Sporting Hope, Adu said they are currently using Remo Stars facility in Ikene as basis to determine what we are going to put up in Akure.
According to him “the dream of establishing a football Academy in Akure is very much alive”
He disclosed that the zeal behind his support for grassroots football development was borne out of his viability and commercial aspect of it, saying he has seen lots of people that are making good money from the sector.
He said the Adu Cubana Unity Cup will be sustained, saying he will make the competition part of his foundation.
He added that the future is bright for the outstanding players in the competition with the help of football agents that are supporting the tournament in conjunction with People United By Sports PUBS.
“I have had meetings with the agents and I understand they have international influence and I’m sure that with their support, the outstanding players in the competition will have something better than just participation”.
“They will be exposed to the international world and that will be the beginning of good things to come into our state”, he said.
