After several months of political instability in Ondo state, governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has officially transmitted letter to Ondo House of Assembly to embark on a medical leave.
The Governor is expected to proceed on a medical leave today and his not expected to be back soon as the letter omitted the resumption date.
The speaker of the state house of assembly, Olamide Oladiji who received the letter on behalf of other lawmakers, said the Governor’s action is in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
According to him the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa would now assume the responsibilities of the Governor in acting capacity until there is a written declaration to the contrary.
Mr Oladiji, however expressed optimism that Akeredolu would soon resume his duty.
It would be recalled that the truce was successful after the intervention of President Bola Tinubu whose his initial parley and directive was obviously flouted by political actors in Ondo state.
