On Thursday, the 26th day of October, the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirms the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The penultimate ruling held that the appeal filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, lacked merit.
Nigerians have since been seen on the streets in major states of the country in celebration of the judgment delivered by the apex court. Also, some prominent Nigerians are sending congratulatory messages to the president. The deputy senate president, Sen. Barau Jubrin led a delegation of APC senators to the villa to celebrate the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Chief Bamidele Omosehin, the newly installed Lisa of Osooro Kingdom, Ondo State, is one of the first voices to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to him, the Supreme Court ruling will now lay to rest all legal tussles and distractions, and the president can now work and deliver the dividend of government to Nigerians.
The Lisa of Osooro Kingdom also commends the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alh. Atiku Abubakar, and his counterparts from the Labour Party (LP), HE. Peter Obi, for resolving to pursue their claims legally rather than taking to the streets. This is no doubt one of the beauties of democracy. He advised that now that the case has been laid to rest, all parties should work with the government to bring growth and development to Nigerians.
