Governor Oyebanjo prostrated for Baba Afe Babalola. That was a commendable action on the part of the Governor. We can’t all be stupid to think that once you become a Governor, you should lose your manners, culture, custom and tradition. Is he (Oyebanji) of the same age as Baba? Is he no longer a Yoruba man? Do you now act as an untrained person, simply because you are a Governor?
We need to understand that the system of governance we have now, is a continuation of the colonial system that domiciles ‘power’ in a governor and causes them to energize their innate bad manners (for those without a culture), as a right of power.
“T’a ba n sunkun, e je k’a ma ri’ran” (Our tears shouldn’t constrain us from seeing).
I commend Governor Oyebanji of Ekiti State for leading his state by showing a good example of what an ‘omoluabi’ (one born of good upbringing) should do. We can’t all become so British that we lose our sense of manners.
