Our attention has been drawn to a watery, baseless, mediocre and very puerile press release by one or joint disgruntled element(s) within the APC fold in Akure North LGA, alleging that Hon. Dele Ologun, the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development is set to lead former Minister, Sen. Alasoadura’s group. This could only have come from a puerile mind with a disorganized thought.
By standard, such disjointed and inconsequential press release would have been ignored by us, but we are cognizant of what lies could do if left to be the only information at the disposal of the public. The public too would agree with us that politics is a game of number and such number is not got a la carte.
From this convincing foregoing, we will respond minimally so that the sower of discord and orchestrator of disunity in Akure North LGA could probably think twice and climb down from his self styled Olympian position.
Hon. Dele Ologun called a meeting of all Akure North LGA APC leaders to his Alagbaka residence and the meeting was well attended by all invited leaders except few leaders who thought any party leadership meeting not called or hosted at their compound is not worth attending.
Ologun used the medium of the meeting to appreciate all the leaders for their united spirit and work which gave the APC victory in the general and House of Assembly elections. He also thanked some present party leaders, once loyal to Sen. Alasoadura for heading his call, appeal and instruction by not towing the lane of anti-party in the elections. He acknowledged that all their efforts culminated into the victory that the APC recorded in Akure North LGA; otherwise, Akure North would have probably be in the shoe of Akure South constituency one and some constituencies in Akoko if the behaviours of some self styled leaders had been considered.
Ologun preached unity and called for the unity of party members and reiterated that now that the party had recorded victories in all elections, unity is sacrosanct.
The issue based meeting of party leaders which discussed among other things, the above agenda is what some disoriented elements within the party has called a step to take over Sen. Alasoadura’s group.
Well, we are not surprised by the fear that had ultimately come over the self styled leader whose goal is to ensure that all persons in Akure North politics kowtow under his whims and caprices. What a terrible human being with a bestial mindset! How palatable to the ear is it and how justifiable is it that some self styled leaders who could not win their units and wards in the State House of Assembly election are now the ones witch-hunting and calling for the suspension of other leaders who won their units and wards and delivered for the APC in the election? Who should be alleged of anti-party activity between the two groups of leaders? Anyway, we leave that for the discerning public to dissect.
However, we wish to appeal to these few self styled leaders who have no political and social values at their homes and outside their shores to desist from catching cold and unnecessary headache whenever a right move is made by party leaders with political and social values. Such is inimical to their health. Or, how does one explains it that a former Commissioner in the local government who lost his Ward 9 with almost a thousand votes in the House of Assembly election, and some other losers who failed to deliver in the election are now the ones against the move for a united and strong APC in the Local Government? Or when does a meeting of unity by party leaders equates to a move to lead a certain group? This must be the joke of the decade.
Anyway, we consider the efforts of the self styled leaders a charade and we can confidently inform them that Akure North LGA APC will unite and become stronger. Never again shall opposition defeat us in any part of the LGA.
Just before we close this chapter, we wish to shout it into the ears of these embittered, regressive, and self styled political Lilliputs to go and learn how to have shame. Probably they refused to know that it is a shameful thing in politics to lose your unit/ward; especially those among them who have only one ward under them and yet would still lose. They are advised to learn decorum and support progressive politics to take its course.
