Ondo State First Lady, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has bagged an award of excellence for her tremendous contributions to the development of sports in the state.
Chief Mrs Akeredolu who was full of excitement, appreciated the recognition, describing it as a motivation for her to pull more strings in engaging children, “boys and girls” in the area of sports, especially tennis.
The First Lady also noted that the famous Arabirin tennis clinic which started five years ago had graduated over one thousand five hundred (1,500) boys and girls accros the three senatorial districts of the state, while some selected tennis players are already representing Ondo state and southwest in national competitions.
Chief Mrs Akeredolu also emphasized that tennis, and sports generally has the ability to transform any child and push them to the limelight if given more attention.
She, hereby called on relevant stakeholders, affluence in the society and Sports Writers to team up with her vision to make Ondo State number one destination for tennis in Nigeria.
Earlier, the caretaker chairman of the SWAN in Ondo State chapter, Mr Wahab Bankole appreciated the gaint strides of the First Lady in rekindling hope of a better tomorrow among children in Ondo State, irrespective of their gender.
Mr Bankole said the association acknowledged her efforts and would do everything possible to further propagate her good works especially in the area of sports development.
Among those who graced the occasion at the Rotunda hall,office of the first lady Alagbaka Akure, include, former chairman of SWAN in Ondo State and national officer, Mr Akintunde Akinsemola, among others.
